Ask a South Elementary third grader what the three branches of government are, and chances are they’ll not only be able to tell you, but they can give you real-world examples. That’s because during the month of September, students learned about the state of Missouri, including the history, the Constitution, how the government is run, and how it functions with checks and balances.
What better way to start your morning than to eat a donut while reading a good book? And that’s exactly what East Elementary students and their parents did Sept. 18 for the first Breakfast & Books.
Can you believe we're already wrapping up the first quarter? Time really flies! That means it's almost time for parent-teacher conferences across Tiger Paw, our elementary schools, OMS, OJH, FRS and OHS. On Sept. 17, 1787, the Founding Fathers signed the U.S. Constitution. Since then, the Constitution has served as the supreme law of the land. The Constitution, along with the Bill of Rights and other amendments, define our government and guarantee our rights. Each year on Sept. 17, Americans celebrate Constitution Day and Citizenship Day. Ozark Schools uses Constitution Day as a time to reflect on the rights and responsibilities of citizenship and what it means to be a U.S. citizen.
